art and manga
Nov. 12th, 2022 06:19 pmToday I actually went out! And it was very busy at every store I went to (which made me very frustrated, anxious, and hot) but I had to get some stuff! But I was really looking forward to going to the Barnes & Nobles, since I worked a lot of overtime this week again (and will have to again next week) , I thought I could treat myself and finally buy physical manga again!
Ouuuug I only got like 4 but they kinda hurt wallet lol but looking through manga and seeing all the art on the covers and obv in the pages just...made me realize I just really miss seeing these stuff physically. Not there's anything wrong with digital stuff at all, but I've been feeling so deprived and disconnected from the physical world esp the past few weeks being stuck working, that it just brings me back. And I haven't bought manga in a long time... I've been buying some novels here and there (haven't been reading them yet though i will) but I still struggle being okay with buying books esp manga (bc of reasons) but yeah!
I just feel disconnected from... art... Yeah I've been listening some music here and there but not as often since they distract me so much right now. but they still make me... feel. Watching anime and decent movies last week made me just happy. I haven't really been reading as much either. Just stuck onto the screen, but I just miss having some sort of art in my life. I had to stop myself from getting more manga because I realized I didn't actually want to read them but just look at the art lol
Here're the manga I got today (all vol 1) :)

Here're the manga I got today (all vol 1) :)
- Touring After the Apocalypse by Sakae Saito
- "All alone after the end of days, two girls bike through the empty ruins of Japan—and they're not about to let the collapse of civilization get in the way of sightseeing! Even when the world ends, their journey goes on." source: https://myanimelist.net/manga/130154/Shuumatsu_Touring
- Looked interesting! Not sure how close in concept it is to Girl's Last Tour, but it kinda reminded me of that series :) maybe more cheerful than GLT though

- Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist's Journey by Akiko Higashimura
- "Akiko Hayashi has soaring but strangely specific dreams: to make a successful manga debut while still in school, have her favorite actor star in its adaptation, and end up marrying him. However, she is far from having the motivation or skills to realize these hopes. When a friend introduces her to an unorthodox, backstreet art class taught by the strong-armed Kenzou Hidaka, called simply as "sensei," Akiko decides to enroll, expecting an easy ride and an automatic improvement in her art skills. To her chagrin, what she gets is something else entirely—a tough, demanding, and uncompromising teacher with absolutely no interest in manga." "...an autobiography detailing the life of author Akiko Higashimura (creator of Princess Jellyfish)" source: https://myanimelist.net/manga/44307/Kakukaku_Shikajika?q=blank%20canvas%20&cat=manga
- I've only watched Princess Jellyfish, but I liked it and thought this sounded interesting!
- SHWD Special Hazardous Waste Disposal by sono.N
"A hardboiled yuri tale about two special agent women fighting supernatural horrors!
Special Hazardous Waste Disposal (or SHWD) has a mission to destroy mysterious biological weapons left behind after the last war. Though SHWD mostly hires men, their newest recruit, Koga, a buff female operative, is assigned to Sawada, the only other woman in the Tokyo branch. Before long, Koga finds herself falling for Sawada, whose powerful psyche compliments Koga’s big muscles. Together, the unlikely duo must confront monsters beyond their wildest nightmares. Office romance meets buddy cops meets yuri horror!" source: https://sevenseasentertainment.com/series/shwd/
- Glad this was at my local B&N. Someone I followed rt about this on twitter :)
- Stravaganza: The Queen in the Iron Mask by Akihito Tomi
- "Humans live mostly behind safe walls, protected from the many non-human creatures outside. In this kingdom's walled capital city of Mitera lives an unusual young warrior woman known as Claria. The story begins as she takes a potentially deadly walk alone in the woods, encountering various dangerous creatures. Most notably a lizardman that treats her surprisingly kindly. But what no one knows about Claria is that she is secretly this kingdom's ruler, Queen Vivian." source: https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/44zwnnc/stravaganza-isai-no-hime
